Dallas Family Photographer

Dallas gives a family session a range no suburb can match, 66 acres of year-round blooms one weekend, a downtown skyline framed by playful fountains the next. A Dallas session is really a choice of which Dallas you want behind your family, and with kids that variety is the secret weapon: a restless toddler always finds something to chase, and the light stays golden whether you’re by the water or under the trees.

Whether you’re in Lakewood, Oak Cliff or Uptown, golden hour comes to you.

Photographing families in Dallas

What Dallas is like: From the classic, tree-lined Park Cities to walkable, artsy Bishop Arts in Oak Cliff and mural-covered Deep Ellum, a big-city patchwork where grand gardens, an urban lake and creative districts all sit minutes apart.

The Arboretum’s seasonal installations, spring blooms and the famous fall pumpkin village, make a timed session feel completely different season to season, while White Rock Lake stays the city’s golden-hour anchor.

Dallas photo session questions

Where are the best places for family photos in Dallas?

Favourites are the Dallas Arboretum for layered, near-year-round blooms, White Rock Lake for open golden-hour light, Klyde Warren Park for a skyline-and-fountains look, and Bishop Arts or Deep Ellum for a more urban, mural-rich set. Amy will match the spot to your family’s vibe and the season.

When is the best time of day for a Dallas session?

Golden hour, the hour or so before sunset, gives the warmest, most flattering light, and it’s when Amy shoots most Dallas sessions. The Arboretum is the exception: it closes at 5pm, so those are timed for soft late-afternoon light earlier in the day.
